E.L.F. The low-down on this $1 makeup

There is a time in life where every woman, (or man), will spend ample amounts of time, money, and patience just to find the right deals, and right prices, low discounts, the clearance section of most web pages, and most of all,- the last minute deals on makeup. Some of us tend to select only the finest, purest, and most exclusive brands of makeup, and then some of us just prefer to buy small name brands from Ebay just to save a couple of bucks. This is where my own search as a makeup-shop-a-holic took me to eyeslipsface.com, the mother of $1 makeup. At first, I had to refresh the page a couple of times because I couldnt believe it. $1 MAKEUP! WOW I CANT BELIEVE IT! PRAISE THE LORD! So after 10 minutes of complete joy and happiness, I finally ended up digging through my purse for my credit card, and thats when I began to shop,...and shop, and spend, and spend.

Shipping was inexpensive(otherwise free) in my personal opinion, due to the fact that many discount coupon code sites like retailmenot.com keep you updated on the latest steals and deals, I ended up getting a $28.00 discount on makeup, and free priority box shipping.

Needless to say, a couple of days went by and I received the order that next week. I grabbed the box with both hands like a little child on christmas, and I began to rip the box apart to reveal the 90 peices of makeup that I had bought from the site. Of course, I spent the rest of the day trying on makeup and testing them all out indiviually.

So anyway, lest get on to the review.

EYES

Earth & water Mascara Duo

The only Duo here is that one end is waterproof, and one is regular. But on my behalf, when it comes to mascara, all is the same, but some are created unequal. This mascara does not extend the lashes at all to any 'extreme' length, but it only adds a little bit of volume. I am not a fan of this mascara, but I did admire the light, rich, glossy, and 'silky' texture of the formula compared to those really thick, and really clumpy mascara formulas. But eh, if youre not a fan of big batty lashes, this mascara will definitely give you a natural look, because it almost seems that "it not even there".

My rating: 3/5 - Hmm, not bad

This product is okay.

Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara

When first applied, this laid down my eyebrow very well, and gave a wet and dewy look to my eyelashes as a bonus. I saw no point in wearing clear Mascara until I tried this wet gloss on my lashes. This also doubles as a eyelash primer if you decide to use the Earth & water duo Mascara.

My rating: 3/5 -
This product is okay.

Brightening Eye color

The colors in this convienant compact are very vivid. A small mirror is placed behind the applicator, but it serves no purpose becuase the darn thing is too small to see one eye! Applying the eyeshadow was a pain, and a complete waste of time. I had to apply primer + powder foundation to make this eyeshadow stick to my lid. On top of that, I had to coat the eyeshadow about 5 times to get the color that I desired. Not to mention, this eyeshadow came with the cursed "streaky line" appeal. The compacts are enough for just a month's use, also adding the fact that if you drop this compact, the pressed powder will literally crack back up into dust. What a waste! But alas, this is what you get for one buck.

My rating: 2/5 -
This product could of done better.

Duo shadow cream

At least this lip gloss,- I mean eyeshadow lives up to its description! The wear is fantastic, but the eyeshadow itself is creamy like lip gloss, and much more brighter than what it look like in the container. One finger swipe over the eye is more than enough color, and this eyeshadow last all day.

My rating: 4/5 -
This product is a good buy.

Eye Makeup Remover Pads

If you dont care for the makeup that much, I highly suggest that you invest in these little wonders of joy! The pads work marvelous on ELF's eye makeup, but also on various brands of makeup as well. You wont believe how much muck this little things are able to pick up! They also start to foam when you rub them on your face. How convienant that this is capable of making its own soap bubbles!

My rating: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

LIPS

Candy Shop lip tins

Mmmmhm! Mocha maniac! Ah! The sweet take of coffee and Java! I wish I would of ordered more of these little delights. After a long makeout session with my boyfriend with this little tin in the act, he loved the taste, and the smell of this lipgloss. Compared to all of the other lipgloss I had, this one tasted the best! Also, these wonderful lip tins give a great amount of shear moisture and color to the lips. kisstastic!

My rating: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15

When I tried this lip gloss on, it was in fact very glossy, and the color was very noticible! But I did not like it all, for the fact that this gloss was very heavy, and very waxy, and its absolutely horrible when you have a strand of hair that gets into it, or if you bite your lip and waxy gloss gets on your teeth!

My rating: 2/5 -
This product could of done better.

Plumping Lip Glaze

Call 911! My lips are burning up! I tried the first side of this lip gloss, and the plumping action was seriously noticible and effective. At the other end, the color added a nice shear coverage to my lips, but I had a hard time getting enough gloss onto the applicator. I do believe that ELF did not "fill up" these little wands enough with gloss.

My rating: 4/5
This product is a good buy.

All Over color stick

Again, with the Duo eyeshadow cream, this color stick has a very "glossy, and shiny application." Also, as an extra bonus, this color stick is fragranced with "sugar oranges". I had a time trying to twist the stick open and to get enough to cover a bit of my face. when I had dabbled a bit of my cheecks, the color was very cakey, and I felt like I was rubbing chapstick all over my cheeck. Also, since this stuff was so glossy, I felt like a little 12 year old girl who's favorite female band was the spice girls.

My rating: 1/5 -
This product is not worth the money.

Hypershine Gloss

I love the paint brush tip of this lip gloss dispenser. The colors were as usual shear, but the lipgloss was very moisturizing and not "too much". These little things make great purse stuffers.

My rating: 4/5 -
This product is a good buy.

Luscious Liquid Lipstick

This Lipstick does not vary that much from the Hypershine Gloss. The lipstick only comes with a tad bit more of pigment, but still produces shear coverage and not the much actual "color" to the lips, but more of a tint persay.

My rating: 4/5 -
This product is a good buy.

Lip Gloss Cell Phone Charm Duo

Is this not the most crafty, trendy, stylish, and glossy cell phone charm you have ever seen? I loved the small mini lipgloss colors that were provided, and they make excellent purse stuffers, and gifts to friends as well for only $2.00!

My review: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

FACE

Natural Radiance Blusher

This is a one of ELF's favorite selling products. The blush applied to my cheek very well, and the color pigmentation was absolutely wonderful! Until before I had tried this product, I always thought that the look of blush was too made-up, and fake looking, but each and every color of the blush goes on light enough, but very visible to see to the naked eye! Also, some colors are even suitable to apply all over your face instead of just the cheecks. This is a great buy!

My rating: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

Even though there are only three colors of bronzer,- sun kissed, warm tan, and luminance, I use enjoy these powders, and I swear by these that they make a great mineral makeup powder primer! I also find that these healthy glow bronzer are very comparable to Physician's Formular Bronzer Strips. These are an investment!

My rating: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

Shielding Hydro-Tint SPF 15

Ugh...did this just say Hydro-Tint? Yes, but this is just ELF's form of foundation. There is a serious lack of shades, and undertones, and I am a prime believer that your skin tone should not be catagorized under "Tone 1, Tone 2, Tone 3, or Tone 4". I chose tone 3, and I was less than content with the outcome of this foundation. First off, this is nothing much than a tinted moisturizer, even if I did "layer" my foundation, there was absoulteuy no coverage at all,- and this formula was extremely greasy and smelled of oranges! This so called "Hydro-Tint" would be best for pre-teen girls with extremely dry skin and a dull complection. I will, and wont ever touch this stuff again! No greasy face for me!

My rating: 0/5

Dont even buy this product. Its a waste of money!

Tone Correcting Concealer

One of the better buys from ELF. Unlike this concealer's counterpart above, this concealer works magic on its own. The lightweight formula is light enough to give top-notch cover up over the darkest scars, and acne bumps. Not to mention, after three days of use, I actually felt that my complexion was improving. This small concealer is like jesus in the form of makeup. I recommended this as a best buy for yet all "Tone 1, 2, and 3" colors.

My rating: 4/5
This product is a good buy.

Clarifying Pressed Powder

Used with ELF's Tone corrector concealer, and Sheilding Hyrdo-Tint SPF 15, you may notice that areas where you applied the liquid foundation will appear to be quite darker when you apply the pressed powder. I was not that quite happy about the outcome of this product. It only gives you basic light coverage, but not enough to blend in, and tone your skin. My face also looked orange compared to the other areas of my skn that did not have the powder on it. Also, I noticed that in the formula, there are small little white specks of powder. I didnt like this powder at all, and it clearly did nothing for me.

My rating 2/5
This product could of done better.

NAILS

Nail Polish

Kudos to the person who ever came up with the design of the Nail Polish container. It is very stylish and trendy! On the other note with the nail polish itself, the color range was bright and vivid, but even with the clear coat, this polish chipped on the very first day. This nail polish would make a perfect stocking stuffer for little girls who like to try out different nail polishes.

Rating: 2/5
This product could of done better.

Nail Polish Remover Pads

This is not as top-notch as the eye makeup remover, as these pads work well with only ELF's nail polish. It took me quite a time to remove my revylon nail polish with these pads when the generic bottle of nail polish from the cheap beauty store worked a lot better.

My rating: 1/5 -
This product is not worth the money.

TOOLS

e.l.f. Professional Complete Set of 12 Brushes

I bought the whole complete set and I was very satisfied with them. The Brushes are great quality, and they hold-up a pretty long time. (I have yet to have one of these brushes start "shedding") I HIGHLY recommended these brushes to any makeup artist, makeup guru, or any woman that it sitting at home applying foundation to her face with her fingers.

My rating: 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

Shine Eraser

These little peices of paper are infused with Green Tea extract, and will work wonders for any shiny face! My face is usually dry, but I ended using these little papers for quick brush-ups, and I was suprised at the amount of oil it picked up! I didnt even know I had excess amounts of oil on my face!

Rating 5/5 -
This product is worth the money.

Thanks for the thorough review! I enjoyed the read. Your taste and my taste in elf seem about the same, except I had good luck with the Tinted Moisturizer (i.e. Hydro Tint). It's great for travel (for me anyhow). :)
